Decisive win by Enable in Cheshire Oaks for Nathaniel

A great day for Nathaniel with his first-crop daughter, Enable , winning the Listed Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks in decisive fashion at Chester for trainer John Gosden and owner Khalid Abdullah.

The filly scored an impressive victory by a length and three-quarters, showing a smart turn of speed under Frankie Dettori. She now heads for the Gr.1 Investec Oaks at Epsom and is currently priced at 10-1.

A winner at two on her debut, Enable, appreciated the longer trip having finished third on her three-year-old debut at Newbury in April. She took a lead from the outsider and was perfectly positioned to get first run, quickening up well and was able to comfortably hold off her rival, with the pair drawing clear of the third.

Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "She handled the track well. She is quite a lengthy filly but that's the beauty of coming to these sort of races, they are educational both for the horse and for the connections!"

A Classic bid is certainly on the cards, and he said: "The way she travels you'd be pretty confident she'd find a mile and a half to her liking."

Home bred by Khalid Abdullah in Nathaniel's first season at stud, Enable is a half-sister to the Stakes placed Contribution out of the Stakes winning mare Concentric (Sadler's Wells).

Nathaniel has now sired 5 Group or Stakes performers to date with Enable , Enjoy Vijay , Kastano , Falcon Wings and Back On Board ; and 11 winners so far this year.

Could this Gr.1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner by Galileo beat his old rival Frankel in the race to be the first to sire a Classic winner!
