Another new Stakes winner for Nathaniel

Nathaniel chalked up another new Stakes winner today with Face The Facts landing the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes at Newmarket.

Trained by John Gosden for owner/breeder George Strawbridge, they went a decent gallop and he stayed on well to wear down the leader. He was the eleventh Group/Stakes horse for Nathaniel in 2017 from his exciting first-crop.

An exciting weekend also lies ahead for him with his daughter, the superstar filly Enable, set to run in the Gr.1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday  We wish all the connections the very best of luck!

The Newsells based sire is having a cracking season with his progeny. Whilst the headline act is the brilliant four-time Gr.1 winner Enable, Nathaniel has plenty of other three-year-olds from his first-crop making their mark on the racecourse too, including Group winning/performing colts and fillies such as God Given, Enjoy Vijay, Melodic Motion, Kastano and Back On Board.  In fact, 17 three-year-olds are rated 94+, 14% of foals, with only Galileo, Dubawi, Frankel and Sea The Stars higher.

In addition, as highlighted in the TDN (16/9/17) an impressive 10% of his runners in 2017 are rated RPR 100+, and 24% are rated RPR 85+ putting him only second to Frankel amongst second-crop sires, with a massive improvement on the performance of his progeny from last year.

Kevin Blake from TDN quotes: "The transformation in their fortunes this year has been incredible to witness.  While the brilliant four-time Group 1 winner Enable has very much led the way for him, it has been anything but a one-horse show.  For him to improve from the very bottom end of the rankings for percentage of RPR85+ to RPR100+ performers with his two-year-olds to the top position in both categories this year is simply sensational."

Nathaniel also rates second to Frankel of second-crop sires by earnings, although he is not very far behind and the results from this forthcoming weekend could change the table, and also put him further up the table for all stallions standing in Europe.
